Mark Laurence LaRiviere

I was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1956. My father gave me his 35mm camera when I was just twelve because he was slowly losing his eyesight to retinal disease.

While Dad still had partial sight, he showed me how to process black and white film and make contact prints in a makeshift attic darkroom. As a teenager, photography was not only my hobby, but, the very reason I wanted to become a visual artist and designer.

I attended the Rhode Island School of Design graduating in 1982 with a fine art painting degree. For the following twenty-five years, I designed and produced books, ephemera, exhibits, and retail promotions for major museums, cultural institutions and publishers.

In 2016, I established a photo studio with equipment for digital printing and making platinotypes from digital negatives. I am still inspired by the power of beautifully printed photographs.

Fine Art Printing

I offer archival black and white (Piezography®) inkjet prints up to 20x24 inches. I also print digital negatives for platinum/palladium (platinotypes) printing. I make platinotypes up to 16x20 inches from my customer's camera raw files. Click here for details.

Photography

I shoot traditional portraits in my studio or on location. I also shoot  figure, event and product photos in color or classic black and white in my studio or on location. Call or email to discuss hiring me to shoot on assignment.

Location

My studio is in Port Chester, NY near MetroNorth and the Capitol Theater in a former shirt factory that dates back to the early 1900's. With easy access to NYC, the building is home to many art and design studios and other small businesses.
